Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 28 of chapter 53 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:–
State primaries shall be held on the first Tuesday in May and on the fourth Tuesday preceding special state elections, except that primaries before special congressional elections shall be held on the fifth Tuesday preceding said elections.
