In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to physical examinations of children prior to procedures by the Juvenile Court to place such children in custody of the Department of Social Services.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  Chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official

 

Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 24 the following section:—


            Section 24A. Within 48 hours of an allegation made under the provisions of

 

section 24 and prior to any removal of the child from the home, the child shall be

 

examined by a pediatrician or at a hospital emergency room and the results of such

 

examination shall be submitted to the court. No employee of the department shall view

 

any such child in a state of nudity.
