In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to the sale of property in cities and towns.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  Chapter 180 of the General laws is hereby amended by adding section 8A after the following section(s):—

 

Section 8B.  Any corporation as defined in this chapter shall provide the city or town in which it is located a right of first refusal upon the sale, lease, exchange or other dispositions of its property or its assets.

 

SECTION 2.  Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, no private school or church shall sell, lease, exchange, or otherwise dispose of its property or its assets without first providing a right of first refusal to the city or town in which it is located.
