In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to disclosing financial obligations to students enrolling in cosmetology schools .

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  Section 87U of chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004

 

Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “him”, in line 9, the

 

following paragraph:—

 

            A school representative shall discuss with all students enrolled at a registered

 

school the student’s obligation when signing any enrollment contract and/or incurring

 

any debt for educational purposes. Such discussions shall include the inadvisability of

 

acquiring an excessive educational debt burden that will be difficult to repay given

 

employment opportunities and average starting salaries in the student’s chosen

 

occupation.
