In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act Prohibiting Slotting Allowances.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  Chapter 93 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:—

Section 43A. Slotting allowances shall be prohibited in any trade or business which primarily involves the sale of food or grocery products. For purposes of this section, a slotting allowance shall mean the giving of anything of substantial value in return for desirable shelf space in a retail store.

Any person who violates the provisions of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars.
