In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to the administration of public schools.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Chapter 71, Section 37H 1/2, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:-

 ;any such suspension or disciplinary action taken in excess of ten school days shall be officially accounted for in any official school reporting mechanism, but shall not adversely affect said schools “adequate yearly progress” report to any state or local agency.

 

SECTION 2. Chapter 71, Section 37H ½ is hereby further amended by adding at the end thereof the following:-

Any school department that suspends a student for any length of time in excess of five school days, shall furnish said student with appropriate alternative education commensurate with his great level and abilities.
