An Act relative to the placement of twins in classrooms.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, a parent or guardian of twins or higher order multiples may request that their children be placed either in the same classroom or in separate classrooms if the children are in the same grade level at the same school.  However, final decisions regarding room assignments shall remain with the school’s principal or his designee.  If a parent or guardian wishes to submit a recommendation, that request for consideration shall be issued in writing and directed to the building principal by March 1 of the calendar year.  The principal or his designee will contact the respective family with the school’s decision on or about August 15.
