An Act to amend certain provisions of the English immersion law. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 71A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking subsection (b) of Section 6.
SECTION 2. Chapter 71A, as so appearing, is hereby further amended in Section 5, subsection (b), by striking paragraph (2) and inserting in place thereof the following:—
(2). Other children: a child for whom it is the informed belief of the school principal and educational staff, based on a thorough assessment of the child’s language and academic achievement that an alternative course of educational study would be better suited to the child’s overall educational progress and rapid acquisition of basic English and academic skills; or
