Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Chapter 71 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition is hereby amended by inserting the following section:-

2C: In all public middle schools goal management, including the processes of goal setting, time management, and self-motivation shall be taught as a required topic for the purpose of providing students with the foundational knowledge and tools necessary to create, control, and achieve success both in school and in life. Students will be taught how to succeed before they are exposed to greater expectations required in high school and beyond. These topics will be taught once per week for one month in each of grades six, seven, and eight. This training and development during middle school will provide the skills and habits necessary for young people to succeed to greater potential in every area of life.
