In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to software used in voting machines for elections.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  Section 33F of chapter 54 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the fourth sentence the following sentence:  Any software program used in the tabulation of the votes cast through the use of a computer or similar counting unit or voting machine shall be owned solely by the commonwealth, not by a private company.
