An Act permitting certain questions on presidential primary ballots. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 70E of chapter 53 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the second paragraph, the following paragraph: -Then shall also be printed on the ballot non-binding instruction, if any, under section 70L, to the Massachusetts delegation to the rules committee of the national political party.
Section 2. Said chapter 53 of the General Laws is hereby further amended by inserting after section 70H the following section: - Section 70L. On an application signed by 1,200 voters or by an application from the state political party asking for the submission to the voters of a party at a presidential primary of non-binding instructions to the party’s delegation to the rules committees concerning membership in convention the state secretary shall place the question on the official ballot to be used at the presidential primary. Committees concerning activity pro or con the seeking of signatures and the passage of any such question shall be subject in a reasonable manner to chapter 55.
