 An Act relative to voter identification.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

                Chapter 51 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out Section 45A and inserting in place thereof the following section..-  Section 45A.

                An applicant for registration shall prove, to the satisfaction of the Clerk or Registrar, that he is a citizen of the United States.  Such proof may be made by producing a birth certificate or papers of naturalization for inspection, notation of which shall be made a part of the registration of said applicant.
