 An Act relative to vacancies in U.S. Senate.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

   Subsection (a) of section 140 of chapter 54 of the General Laws as amended by section 6 of chapter 236 of the acts of 2004, is hereby further amended by inserting after the second sentence the following sentence:-

   The governor shall appoint a person to serve as senator in congress for the interim period until a successor is sworn and qualified.
