Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 13 of chapter 38 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition is hereby amended by inserting, in line 4, after the word “named” the following words:
“and such person shall cause to be published in a newspaper the city or town of the deceased’s last known residence, a public notification of death within 24 hours along with any funeral or memorial services on the deceased’s behalf. Failure to provide such notice shall be an offense punishable by a fine of $1000 and enforceable in any city or town.”
