An Act relative to nominations for the Stewardship Council in the Department of Conservation and Recreation

.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Section 2A of Chapter 21 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition,

is hereby amended by striking out the last paragraph and inserting in place thereof the

following:—

The commissioner shall request each of the boards of trustees or directors of the

Massachusetts Audubon Society, the Massachusetts Chapter of the Sierra Club, the

Massachusetts Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club, the Trust for Public Land, the

Environmental League of Massachusetts, the Snowmobile Association of Massachusetts, the New England Trail Rider Association and the Trustees of the Reservation, to nominate 8 candidates for the remaining 2 members of the council. From the nominations received from the several boards of such organizations, the commissioner shall select 8 candidates whom he shall recommend to the governor. The governor shall appoint the remaining 2 members of the council from among the candidates recommended by the commissioner.
