Resolve providing for an investigation and study in order to balance the needs of property owners with those of coyotes. |
Resolved, that a special commission, to consist of 7 members, is hereby established for the purpose of making an investigation and study relative to devising a comprehensive plan to address the growing overpopulation of coyotes in the commonwealth, and to better balance the safety and well-being of residents with the needs of coyotes for adequate natural habitat. Said commission shall consist of three members of the house of representatives, one of whom shall be the house chair of the Joint Committee on Natural Resources and Agriculture, two members of the Senate, one of whom shall be the Senate chair of the Joint Committee on Natural Resources and Agriculture, the commissioner of the Department of Fish and Game, and one representative of anti-trapping interests.
Said commission shall report to the General Court the results of its study and its recommendations together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry its recommendations into effect by filing the same with the clerk of the house of representatives on or before December 31, 2008.
