 An Act to introduce competition to non compulsory auto insurance.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Section 113B of Chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the last paragraph, the following paragraph:—
The commissioner of insurance shall establish a competitive rate system of automobile insurance for noncompulsory coverage. Said competitive system shall take effect for policies issued or renewed after
January 1, 2008. Said competitive system shall sunset January 1, 2012 unless otherwise extended. The commissioner shall report the experience of said competitive system to the committee on insurance on January 1, 2010.
