In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act to add a compulsory death benefit to automobile liability insurance.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. section 6 of chapter 62 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following:

 

Section 6: In addition to the automobile liability insurance coverage that is compulsory under this chapter, additional coverage of no less than $100,000 shall be available to the estate of any person killed by the negligence of the operator of a motor vehicle regardless of the relationship of the deceased to the owner or driver of the automobile.
