In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to group health insurance.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Section 110 of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking in lines 55 through 61 the words “and insuring not less than seventy-five per cent of such employees or not less than eight thousand of such employees who are principally employed within the commonwealth, or the members of an association of such employees if the members so insured constitute not less than seventy-five per cent of all eligible employees or not less than eight thousand of such employees who are principally employed within the commonwealth” and inserting in place thereof the following:-

 

who are principally employed within the commonwealth, or the members of an association of such employees

 

SECTION 2.  Section 110 of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding, in line 74 after the words “or to both,” the following:-

 

or partly or wholly from funds contributed by the insured persons specifically for their insurance the benefits of which are offered to all employees of the employer or employers and/or all the members of the union or unions or association or associations, or all of any class or classes thereof determined by conditions pertaining to their employment, or to membership in the union or unions, or association or associations, or to both,

 

SECTION 3.  Section 110 of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding, in line 78 after the word “partly” the following:-

 

or wholly

 

SECTION 4.  Section 110 of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking in lines 80 through 82 the words “, and insuring not less than seventy-five per cent of such eligible employees of the employer or employers or of such eligible members of the union or unions or association or associations”.

 

SECTION 5.  Section 110 of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended in lines 88 through 90 by striking the words “, not less than seventy-five per cent or not less than eight thousand of such members principally employed within the commonwealth may be so insured” and inserting in place thereof the following:-

 

shall also be deemed a general or blanket policy within the meaning of this section

SECTION 6.  Section 110 of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended in line 98 after the words “retired employees;” the following:-

SECTION 7.  Section 110 of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking in lines 147 through 150 the words “, and insuring not less than fifty members and seventy-five per cent of all persons eligible for membership in the association or not less than eight thousand such persons principally employed within the commonwealth”.

 

SECTION 8.  Section 110 of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking in lines 173 through 174 the words “, and insuring not less than seventy-five per cent of all eligible newspaperboys”.

 

SECTION 9.  Subsection (J) of section 110 of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby repealed.
