In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to tenants engaging in serious or repeated lease violations.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.

 

Section 19 of chapter 139 of the general laws as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition is hereby amended by inserting after the word “housing”, in line 24, the following words:-

 

Or if a tenant or household member engages in conduct that constitutes either a serious violation of the lease or the tenant or household member repeatedly violates the terms and conditions of the lease

 

 

SECTION 2.  Section 20 of chapter 185C, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “action”, in line 1, the following words:-

 

Except in the case of an action brought pursuant to section 19 of chapter 139.
