An Act relative to voluntary chemical castration for sex offenders. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law or rule or regulation to the contrary, the department of correction is hereby authorized and directed to investigate, study and implement a program of voluntary chemical treatment of sex offenders, as defined in section 178C of chapter 6, and sexually dangerous persons, as defined in section 1 of chapter 123A. Said chemical treatments, administered with the consent of the sex offender or sexually dangerous person, shall be those pharmaceuticals that suppress, inhibit or eliminate the violent impulses of said individuals, including, but not limited to medroxyprogesterone acetate chemical treatment.
