In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act to make criminal the possession of implements intended to facilitate shoplifting.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Chapter 266 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding after section 30 the following section:--

 

“Section 30B. Any person who, with intent to steal property from any store or other retails mercantile establishment, knowingly possesses an item, article, implement or device including but not limited to duct tape-lined bags and unauthorized security tag removers designed for the purpose of overcoming detection of security markings or attachments placed on property intended for sale at such store or establishment shall be punished by imprisonment in jail for not more than two years or by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars, or by both such fine and imprisonment.”:
