An Act relative to the liability of the operations of the Barnstable County correctional facility. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the Barnstable county correctional facility may, with the approval of the sheriff of said county, be used as a regional lockup facility within said county. Said facility may, with the approval of the sheriff and at the discretion of the chief of police of said county, be used for the detention of persons detained or committed by the courts or any person arrested under civil process. Said Barnstable County correctional facility, when used as a lockup facility, shall have the same functions and powers as a lockup established under the provisions of section 34 of chapter 40 of the General Laws.
