In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act providing a tax credit for certain energy efficient items.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  The first paragraph of section 16 of chapter 140 of the acts of 2005 is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:-

 

Notwithstanding any general or special law or rule or regulation to the contrary, an owner of residential property located in the commonwealth shall be allowed a one-time credit against the tax imposed by chapter 63 of the General Laws for all energy efficient items purchased on or after November 1, 2005, but not later than March 31, 2008, for installation in that property.

 

SECTION 2.  The second paragraph of said section 16 of said chapter 140 is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following  sentence:-

 

The credit allowed under this section may be taken in the taxable year 2005, 2006, 2007 or 2008 in which any qualifying purchase was made.
