In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to assistant registers of deeds.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.

 

Chapter 36, Section 4 is hereby amended by deleting the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following:

Each register may appoint an assistant register of deeds, removable at his pleasure, for whose official acts he shall be responsible; provided, however, that any person so appointed by the register for Suffolk county who has served continuously in any position in the registry of deeds in said county for a period of twenty or more years shall not be removed there from except for cause.
