An Act relative to the designation, by the clerks of courts, of certain assistant clerks as criminal proceedings clerks and equity proceedings clerks.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.   Chapter 221, Section 6A is amended by striking the words “justices of the superior court” after the word “The” in line one, and inserting the words, “clerk of the courts for the county of Middlesex”; and further, by striking the words “for a term of three years from the date of such designation” after the word “designate” in line one, and inserting the words, “subject to removal by said clerk”.

SECTION 2.  Chapter 221, Section 6B is amended by striking the words “justices of the superior court” after the word “The” in line one and inserting “clerk of the courts for the county of Essex”; and further by striking the words “for a term of three years from the date of such designation” after the word “designate” in line one, and inserting the words, “subject to removal by said clerk”.

SECTION 3.   Chapter 221, Section 6C is amended by striking the words “justices of the superior court” after the word “The” in line one and inserting the words “clerk of courts for the county of Essex”; and further, by striking the words “for a term of three years from the date of such designation” after the word “designate” in line one and inserting the words “subject to removal by said clerk”.

SECTION 4.   Chapter 221, Section 6D is amended by striking the words “by the court or” after the word “removal” in line two.

SECTION 5.  Chapter 221, Section 6E is amended by striking the words “justices of the superior court” after the word “The” in line one, and inserting the words “clerk of courts for the county of Worcester”; and further, by striking the words “for a term of three years from the date of such designation” after the word “designate” in line one, and inserting the words “subject to removal by said clerk”.

SECTION 6.  Chapter 221, Section 6F is amended by striking the words “justices of the superior court” after the word “The” in line one and inserting the words “clerk of courts for the county of Worcester”; and further, by striking the words “for a term of three years from the date of such designation” after the word “designate” in line one, and inserting the words, “subject to removal by said clerk”.

SECTION 7.  Chapter 221, Section 6G is amended by striking the words “justices of the superior court” after the word “The” in line one and inserting the words “clerk of courts for the county of Middlesex”; and further, by striking the words “for a term of three years from the date of such designation” after the word “designate” in line one, and inserting the words, “subject to removal by said clerk”.

SECTION 9.  Chapter 221, Section 6J is amended by striking the words “justices of the superior court” after the word “The” in line one and inserting the words “clerk of courts for the county of Plymouth”; and further, by striking the words “for a term of three years from the date of such designation” after the word “designate” in line one, and inserting the words, “subject to removal by said clerk”.

SECTION 10.  Chapter 221, Section 6K is amended by striking the words “justices of the superior court” after the word “The” in line one and inserting the words “clerk of courts for the county of Hampden”; and further, by striking the words “for a term of three years from the date of such designation” after the word “designate” in line one, and inserting the words, “subject to removal by said clerk”.

SECTION 11.  Chapter 221, Section 6L is amended by striking the words “justices of the superior court” after the word “The” in line one and inserting the words “clerk of courts for the county of Hampden”; and further, by striking the words “for a term of three years from the date of such designation” after the word “designate” in line one, and inserting the words, “subject to removal by said clerk”.

SECTION 12.  Chapter 221, Section 6M is amended by striking the words “by the court or” after the word “removal” in line two.

SECTION 13.  Chapter 221, Section 6N is amended by striking the words “by the court or” after the word “removal” in line two.

SECTION 14.  Chapter 221, Section 6O is amended by striking the words “by the court or” after the word “removal” in line two.
