An Act relative to the safe driver insurance plan.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.    Section 113B of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as amended by chapter 213 of the acts of 2004, is hereby further amended by inserting, after the 13th paragraph, the following paragraph:–

The safe driver insurance plan shall provide that individuals who have voluntarily relinquished their driver’s license and terminated their automobile insurance policy for a period of less than 7 years, shall be entitled, upon application for a new license and insurance policy, to the same step category they had attained at the time they relinquished said license and terminated said policy, provided that the commissioner does not have a reasonable basis upon which to alter that classification and make an upward premium adjustment.
