In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to town meeting votes in the town of Lexington.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Section 8 of chapter 215 of the acts of 1929, as most recently amended by section 1 of chapter 158 of the acts of 1992 is hereby further amended by striking out the second sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- If, within said 5 days, a petition signed by not less than 3 per cent of the registered voters of the town, containing their names and addresses as they appear on the list of registered voters, is filed with the selectmen requesting that the question or questions involved in any such vote which has not become operative as aforesaid be submitted to the voters of the town at large, then the operation of such votes shall be further suspended pending its determination as hereinafter provided, and the selectmen, within 10 days after the filing of the petition, shall forthwith call a special meeting for the purpose of presenting to the voters at large the question or questions so involved.
