In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to the public accessibility of defibrillators.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.

 

Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the Commissioner of the Department of Public Health shall create a commission to study defibrillators and their accessibility and availability to the general public in venues of greatest convenience and efficiency, including, but not limited to: state police cruisers, fire apparatus, and other public safety vehicles, MBTA commuter trains, subway cars, and buses, steam ships  and other cruise ships, health clubs, and all state office buildings.

 

1.The commission shall consider the cost of purchasing, installing, and

 maintaining said defibrillators, public health risks, as well as benefits, and other issues which may arrive during deliberation.

 

                2. The commission may meet at a time and place, as determined by the Commissioner. The commission shall issue a final report to the Governor and Legislature no later than six months following its final meeting and dissolution.
