 An Act preventing drug diversion through continuing education.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Section 5L of Chapter 112 of the Massachusetts General Laws, 2004 Official Edition is hereby amended by inserting the following:--

 

Section 5M.  Prescribing physicians seeking to obtain or renew a Massachusetts Controlled Substances license as defined in Section 9 Chapter 94C shall be required to demonstrate completion of 6 hours of training in effective pain management, identification of patients at high risk for substance abuse and other aspects of prescription medication abuse.
