An Act relative to the Massachusetts Commission on End of Life Care. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 480 of chapter 159 of the acts of 2000 is hereby amended by striking out the first paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
There is hereby established a commission to study the provision of end of life care services. Said commission shall consist of 16 members as follows: 3 members of the senate, one of whom shall be the minority leader or his designee; 3 members of the house of representatives, one of whom shall be the minority leader or his designee; the commissioner of public health; the secretary of elder affairs; the commissioner of medical assistance; the commissioner of the division of insurance; the attorney general of the commonwealth or his designee; and 5 persons appointed by the special subcommittee on end of life care as established through executive order, one of whom shall be a designee from the Hospice Federation of Massachusetts, one of whom shall be a designee from the Massachusetts Medical Society, one of whom shall be a designee from the Massachusetts extended care foundation, one of whom shall be a designee from the Massachusetts Hospital Association, and one of whom shall be a designee from the Massachusetts Bar Association.
SECTION 2. Said section 480 of said chapter 159 of said acts is hereby further amended by striking out the words “one member for a term of two years” in subsection (d) of the 4th paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following words:- two members for a term of two years .
