In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to the reporting of crimes against students.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

Section 15A of Chapter 22 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1992 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:—
Arrests by state, county, or local police on campuses of insti-tutions of higher education, the applicable police department shall provide to the institution of higher education, without cost, the names and addresses of persons arrested and the charges filed against those persons for inclusion in the daily campus police logs.
Massachusetts uniform crime reporting unit law should be amended to include the following:—
Compilation of crime statistics shall include information from incident report forms used by law enforcement agencies, which shall include the identification of any victim who is a college or university student and the name of the school attended. This off campus incidents/crime information shall be forwarded to the institution of higher education for periodic inclusion in the college or university daily campus police log. The college or university shall make an annual report regarding off campus crime made available upon request. The Secretary of Public Safety may promulgate rules or regulations to carry out this law.
