In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

An Act relative to elevator regulations.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.           Section 11 of Chapter 22 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding in line 9 after the word “Boston” the following: “with power to designate from time to time a representative to act temporarily as a member of such board”.

            SECTION 2.  Section 11 of Chapter 22 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended in lines 22 through 25 by striking out the words “thirty-one dollars and twenty-five cents for each day while in actual performance of his duties as such, but not exceeding twelve hundred and fifty dollars in any fiscal year” and inserting in place thereof the following: “not less than fifty dollars for each day while in actual performance of his duties as such, but not exceeding two thousand dollars in any fiscal year”. 

            SECTION 3.  Section 11A of Chapter 22 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended in lines 29 through 32 by striking out the words “thirty-one dollars and twenty-five cents for each day while in actual performance of his duties as such, but not exceeding twelve hundred and fifty dollars in any fiscal year” and inserting in place thereof the following: “not less than fifty dollars for each day while in actual performance of his duties as such, but not exceeding two thousand dollars in any fiscal year”.

            SECTION 4.  Section 62 of Chapter 143 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding in line 13 after the word “stairways” the following: “, dumbwaiters, moving walks, material lifts and dumbwaiters with automatic transfer devices, wheelchair lifts, automatic people movers, and other associated devices that are commonly included within the elevator industry.”

            SECTION 5.  Section 71A of Chapter 143 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended in lines 10 through 12 by striking out the words “thirty-one dollars and twenty-five cents for each day’s service performed in connection with his duties as such chairman, but not to exceed one thousand dollars in any fiscal year” and inserting in place thereof the following: “not less than fifty dollars for each days service performed in connection with his duties as such chairman, but not to exceed two thousand dollars in any fiscal year”.

    SECTION 6.  Section 71E of Chapter 143 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended in line 2 by striking out the words, “and dumbwaiters” and inserting in place thereof the following: “, dumbwaiters, moving walks, material lifts and dumbwaiters with automatic transfer devices, wheelchair lifts, automatic people movers and other associated devices that are commonly included within the elevator industry.”

Section 7.  Chapter 288 of the Acts of 1962 is hereby repealed.

Section 8.  Chapter 324 of the Acts of 1980 is hereby repealed.
