In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act establishing a special committee to study the oversight and responsibility of statewide emergencies.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, there is hereby established a special committee for the purposes of making an investigation and study of the feasibility of transferring the responsibility for the planning and responses relating to emergencies, on a statewide basis, from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, to the Department of Fire Services. Said committee shall consist of the Chairmen of the House and Senate Committees on Public Safety, the State Fire Marshal, the Director of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, the President of the Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts and the President of the Professional Firefighters Association of Massachusetts.
