An Act authorizing the Massachusetts State Board of Retirement to grant creditable service to Michael P. Boyle and James P. Costello. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Notwithstanding any provisions of chapter 32 or any other general or special law or rule or regulation to the contrary, the state board of retirement is hereby authorized and directed to credit Michael P. Boyle and James P. Costello with service they rendered as members of the staff of the joint labor management committee from January, 1980 to August, 1987 inclusive, for the purpose of determining their superannuation retirement allowance pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (a) of subdivision (2) of section 5 of said chapter 32. Eligibility for said creditable service shall be conditioned upon payment into the Annuity Savings Fund of the state employees’ retirement system of an amount equal to the contributions they would have otherwise paid into the retirement system for said period of service based upon the salary each received for said period together with regular interest thereon. Such payments shall be made in one sum or installments as the state board of retirement shall prescribe.
