An Act providing a minimum pension for certain retired municipal employees. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter 32 of the General Laws is amended by
inserting the following new section:—
Section 90D 1/2. Any retirement system of a city, town, county, region,
district, or authority may, upon the majority vote of the board of such system
and by the local legislative body, increase the retirement allowance of any
member of the retirement system, who has been retired under the provisions of
this chapter or similar provision of earlier law on a superannuation,
accidental disability or ordinary disability retirement allowance and who has
completed at least 25 years of creditable service, to an amount not to exceed
$12,000. For the purposes of this section, local legislative body shall mean
the city council subject to the provisions of its charter for a city system, a
town meeting for a town system, the county retirement advisory council for a
county system, the regional retirement advisory council of a regional system,
the district members for a district system, and the governing body of an
authority for an authority system.
