In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to the determination of creditable service for persons employed in two systems.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision (7) of section 3 of chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1996 Official Edition, hereby amended by striking out the first sentence.

SECTION 2. Section 4 of said chapter 32, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “provided, that in no event shall any such person be credited with more than one year of creditable service for all such service rendered during any one calendar year”, in lines 72 to 74, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:— A person who is simultaneously a member of two systems shall be credited with one year of creditable service for each year he was a member of the system
of his longest employment and one-half year of creditable service for each year he was a member of the system of his shortest employment.
