In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act regulating the classification for retirement purposes of certain individuals.

.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Section 1 of chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2000 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the definition of “Date the system becomes operative” the following definition:—

 

“Dedicated fire apparatus mechanics”, as applied to those persons who are directly employed and directly payrolled by the respective fire department or district, shall mean any persons who by the nature of their job description are required to respond to the fire grounds to repair apparatus and give instruction or assistance, as needed, on equipment operation.

 

SECTION 2. Group 2 of paragraph (g) of subdivision (2) of section 3 of chapter 32 of the General Laws, as amended by chapter 139 of the acts of 1993, is hereby further amended by adding the following:— dedicated fire apparatus mechanic.
