In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act authorizing the state teachers' retirement board to grant creditable service to a certain employee.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement Board is hereby authorized and directed to credit Jeffrey Newman with creditable service for the period from January 1985 to June 1993, inclusive, for the purpose of determining his superannuation retirement allowance; provided, however, that before the date any retirement allowance becomes effective for him, he shall pay into the annuity savings fund of the state retirement system in one sum or installments, upon such terms and conditions as the board may prescribe, an amount equal to that which would have been withheld as regular deductions from his regular compensation for such previous service, plus interest.
