 An Act Directing the State Retirement Board To Pay Certain Retirement Benefits to the Surviving Spouse and Children Of Gerard D. Downing.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, for the purpose of promoting the public good, the state retirement board is hereby authorized and directed to pay to Pamela J. Downing, the surviving spouse of Gerard D. Downing, the District Attorney of Berkshire county, an accidental death benefit as provided under the provisions of section nine of chapter thirty-two of the General Laws.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect as of January 1, 2004.
