In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act to strengthen veteran hiring practices.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, veterans, as defined in Section 6A of Chapter 115 of the General Laws, shall be given preference for positions as public employees upon qualified application for such employment. 

 

SECTION 2. “Public employment” as used in this act, shall refer to all county, municipal or state jobs, with the exception of positions requiring election.
