 An Act to clarify continuous service in a retirement system.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

   Section 22 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is amended in subsection (1) (b) by adding the following subsection:— (vii) For the purposes of this subsection any member in service who was laid off because of reduction in force caused by budget cuts, whether or not such member withdrew contributions to the retirement system, upon reinstatement and repayment of such contributions shall be considered to have maintained continuous active service in the retirement system and such member’s rate of contribution shall be the same as the initial date of employment.
