In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to senior citizen tax exemptions.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1.  Clause forty-first C of section 5 of chapter 59, as appearing in the 2000 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding after the first paragraph the following new paragraph:—
A city, by vote of its council and approval or its mayor, or a town, by vote of the town meeting, may adjust the following factors contained in this clause by:
(a) reducing the requisite age of eligibility to any person 65 years or older;
(d) increasing either or both the amounts contained in the first sentence of the first paragraph by not more than 100 per cent;
(e) increasing the amount contained in sub-clause (B) of said first paragraph from $20,000 to not more than $26,000 and from $30,000 to not more than $35,000; and
(e) increasing the amounts contained in sub-clause (C) of said first paragraph from $40,000 to not more than $56,000 and from $55,000 to not more than $60,000.
