In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act modernizing property tax assessment for the blind.  .

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Section 5 of Chapter 59 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2000 Official Edition is hereby amended by striking the words “five thousand dollars” in line 725 and inserting, in place thereof, the words “one thousand dollars”.

SECTION 2. Section 5 of Chapter 59 of the General Laws as so appearing is hereby further amended by striking the words “four hundred and thirty-seven dollars and fifty cents” in lines 726-727 and inserting, in place thereof, the words “one thousand dollars.”

SECTION 3. Section 5 of Chapter 59 of the General Laws as so appearing is hereby further amended by striking the words “four thousand dollars of this exemption or the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars” in lines 734-735 and inserting, in place thereof, the words “five thousand dollars of this exemption of the sum of five hundred dollars.”

SECTION 4. Section 5 of Chapter 59 of the General Laws as so appearing is hereby further amended by striking the words “one thousand dollars exemption or eighty-seven dollars and fifty cents” in lines 736-737 and inserting, in place thereof, the words “five thousand dollars of exemption or five hundred dollars.”

SECTION 5. Section 5 of Chapter 59 of the General Laws as so appearing is hereby further amended by striking clause thirty-seventh A in its entirety.
