In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to motor vehicle excise taxes.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

Chapter 60A of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:—
Section 8. A municipality shall have the option to levy upon an auto excise tax within said municipality a surcharge of up to 50 per cent of the total excise tax on any motor vehicle in its first year of purchase with a purchase price in excess of $30,000. The $30,000 standard shall increase each year subsequent to the passage of this act in conjunction with the Consumer Price Index.
