In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter
60A of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:—
Section 8. A municipality shall have the option to levy upon an auto excise tax
within said municipality a surcharge of up to 50 per cent of the total excise
tax on any motor vehicle in its first year of purchase with a purchase price in
excess of $30,000. The $30,000 standard shall increase each year subsequent to
the passage of this act in conjunction with the Consumer Price Index.
