 An Act relative to motor fuel supply and safety.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

                SECTION 1.  Section 11B of Chapter 25A of the General Laws, as appearing in 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following paragraph:-

 

                The Division of Energy Resources shall conduct a review of the supply, price and fuel economy of existing and potential motor fuels, including but not limited to diesel, ethanol, fuel cells, oxygenated and non-oxygenated gasoline additives.  The division shall examine the current motor fuel needs of the commonwealth, including the availability, safety, adequacy and reliability of the supply system, and identify the potential risks or vulnerabilities to the current supply.  The division shall also examine potential alternatives that could support the existing supply and diversify the commonwealth’s motor fuel portfolio and explore the availability and efficacy of such alternatives.  The division shall report its findings, along with any legislation it may recommend, to the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy no later than December 31, 2008
