In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 Resolve establishing a special commission to study energy consumption and potential savings through biomass and renewable energy sources by the state colleges and community colleges of the Commonweatlh.

 

    Resolved,

 

Resolved, (a) There shall be a special commission to study the energy consumption of the state colleges and community colleges of the commonwealth.  The commission shall specifically review and evaluate the annual level and cost of energy consumption and shall develop a plan to conserve energy through the use of biomass and related renewable energy sources.

 

            (b) The commission shall consist of nine members.  Three members shall be appointed by the governor, three members shall be appointed by the Senate President and three members shall be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

 

(c) The commission shall hold at least 3 statewide public hearings and shall report its findings and proposed legislation, if any, to the clerk of the Senate and the House of Representatives within 240 days of the effective date of this act.
