In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to the restriction of certain children as passengers in front seats of motor vehicles. .

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 7CC the following section:—
Section 7DD. No child four years of age or less shall ride as a passenger in the front seat of any motor vehicle which has a back seat.
No child eleven years of age or less shall ride in the front seat of a private passenger motor vehicle equipped with an exploding type air bag safety device located on the passenger’s side of said motor vehicle.
The provisions of this section shall not apply in emergency situations. An emergency is defined as circumstances that would lead a reasonable person to the conclusion that the provisions of this section shall not apply at the time.
