In the Year Two Thousand and Seven.

 An Act relative to the Jacob Sears Memorial Library.

 

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:


 

SECTION 1. Chapter 254 of the acts of 1908 is hereby amended in Section 2 by striking the first sentence, “The 3 trustees, all of whom shall be residents of what is commonly known as Quivet Neck, in the town of Dennis, shall be elected by a vote of the residents of Quivet Neck” and replacing it with the following sentence:-

                “The 3 trustees, all of whom shall be residents of what is commonly known as East Dennis, in the town of Dennis, shall be elected by a vote of the residents of Quivet Neck”;

 

and in Section 4 by striking the sentence “The inhabitants of said Quivet Neck, including as such all persons of and above the age of twenty-one, male and female, who have resided in that part of Dennis known as Quivet Neck for the period of one year before the time of the holding of the meetings hereinafter provided for, may elect by ballot annually a committee of five, who shall not be any of said trustees or their successors, and who shall be such inhabitants of Quivet Neck, the duties of which committee shall be to advise with the trustees as to the administration of the said trust” and replacing it with the sentence:-

                “The inhabitants of said Quivet Neck, including as such all persons of and above the age of eighteen, male and female, who have resided in that part of Dennis known as Quivet Neck for the period of one year before the time of the holding of the meetings hereinafter provided for, may elect by ballot annually a committee of five, who shall not be any of said trustees or their successors, and who shall be such inhabitants of East Dennis, the duties of which committee shall be to advise with the trustees as to the administration of the said trust”;

 

and by adding the following new section:

                Section 9. The area of East Dennis shall be defined on an annual basis to comply with the district definition of the Dennis Chamber of Commerce, including, but not limited to Route 134 and Route 6A within the defined area.

 

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
