An Act relative to parental notification for hospitalized college students. |
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 15A of General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following section:-
Section 42. Every full- or part-time student enrolled at a public or independent institution of higher learning shall be given the opportunity to elect for parental notification should the student be taken to a hospital from their dormitory or other school-owned building or school health center by ambulance.
A student wishing their parent be notified in event of an emergency would submit such a request, in writing, to the student health services director at the beginning of each school year. The student will provide the contact information for a parent or guardian to be notified in case of an emergency.
